Guide for Authors

The Mansoura Nursing Journal(MNJ) welcomes unsolicited articles on various nursing issues. The journal publishes original research, product focuses, literature reviews and clinical reviews and clinical case studies. All articles submitted to MNJ are subject to double-blind peer review.

Manuscript preparation:

Three copies should be submitted with the following format:

  • Times New Roman, 12-point font (preferred)
  • Double spaced throughout
  • One-inch margins on all sides except left side 1.5 inch
  • Left justified
  • Beginning of each paragraph indented 5-7 characters (1/2 inch)

1. Title (15 words or less)

The title should accurately, clearly, and concisely reflect the emphasis and content of the paper. The title must be brief and grammatically correct. Titles do not normally include numbers, acronyms, abbreviations or punctuation.

2. Authors’ names and institutional affiliations

This should include the full author names, institutional addresses (Department, Institute, City, Post/Zip code, Country), and email addresses for all authors. The corresponding author should also be indicated.

3. Abstract and Keywords

The abstract should be comprehensive but concise consisting of no more than 250 words and should be structured to give a brief introduction to the study, main findings of the study, conclusions drawn from the study and their significance. Do not include references, headings and non-standard abbreviations. Please do not include any citations and avoid specialist abbreviations. Also provide 5-8 carefully chosen keywords.

4. Introduction

Here authors should make a case for the study, providing a brief literature survey (avoid citing literature older than ten years, unless absolutely necessary) and background to the study, the hypothesis and the significance of the presented research.

5. Methods

Experimental procedures should be given in sufficient detail to allow these to be replicated by other researchers. The source of the various reagents and materials used in the study should be given, where possible.

6. Tables

Number tables consecutively in accordance with their appearance in the text. Place a table’s caption

and its description  above the table’s body. Avoid vertical rules

Figures and Schemes 

Number figures consecutively in accordance with their appearance in the text. Place a figure’s description below the figure body. For each figure, the following information should be provided: Figure number (in sequence, using Arabic numerals - i.e. Figure 1, 2, 3 etc); short title of figure (maximum 15 words); Figure 1. Figure title (This is an example of figure 1)

8. Discussion

This section should present a comprehensive analysis of the results in the light of any previous research.

9. Conclusions

Your conclusions should be succinct and logically ordered. Identify gaps in present knowledge and suggest future initiatives.

10. Acknowledgements

The authors should first acknowledge the source of funding for the research presented in their article followed by any personal credits.

11. Statement of Competing Interests

Include an explicit disclosure of any competing interests (financial or others) that may have influenced the study or the conclusions drawn from the study. If none, state 'the authors have no competing interests'. 

SUBMISSION:

  • After the researcher complete online submission to have a registration account.

EDITOR CHECK:

  • the editor reads and checks the paper to see if it fits with the aims and scope of the journal. Then the paper will enter into a rigorous, double-blind peer-review process that considers the quality, originality, approach and clarity of the paper.
  • Note; if the paper is outside the journal’s scope, the Editor may reject it.

DECISION:

  • Once the reviewers have read the paper, they will make one of the following recommendations (• Accept • Minor revisions • Major revisions • Reject ) The final decision lies with the Editor. Reviewer feedback on the paper will be provided to the corresponding author.

REVISIONS:

  • the author will receive an email from the Editor containing the final decision.

TYPESETTING AUTHOR:

  • Once accepted, the paper is immediately processed by our in-house team, who check the copyright forms. Then the paper is sent to typesetting team, who will perform further quality checks and prepare PDF proofs. Then the author will receive an email link to the PDF proofs, along with a query form that highlights any inconsistencies, grammar, table/ figure and referencing errors that need resolving before publication.

AUTHOR PROOFS:

  • the author's proof must be returned to the typesetters within 10 working days. If this deadline cannot be met, any outstanding queries will be resolved by the MNJ team.

EARLYCITE:

  • Once proofs are returned, corrections are made by the typesetting team, then final proofs are sent to the journal’s content Editors for final checks. Once this is complete, the paper is published through Early Cites and it is now a fully citable, published article with a DOI number. The article can be promoted, downloaded and referenced. The  published article will remain on Early Cite until it is assigned to an issue

PUBLICATION:

  • When a journal issue is available for the articles to be published in, the typeset files will be reworked by the typesetting team to add pagination, volume and issue details. The resupplied files will be re-loaded to our online platform, moving from the Early Cite container to the relevant volume and issue number. Where applicable, a print copy will then be produced.

  • It should be noticed that all manuscripts will be published and made available on-line, immediately after acceptance.
  • Only the collation of a special issue requires waiting for the whole procedure to be completed.
  • When submitting any manuscripts after this deadline, they will be postponed to the next issue.
